Electrical checks? Data sanity checks (e.g., negative magnitudes)? * Touchstone 2.0 features or also 1.0? * Parser bid committee ====================================================================== Minutes from April 8: Attendees: ---------- (* denotes present) Agilent - Radek Biernacki*, John Moore, Ken Wong Ansoft - Denis Soldo Cadence Design Systems - Terry Jernberg, Brad Griffin Green Streak Programs - Lynne Green Hewlett-Packard - Rob Elliott Intel - Michael Mirmak* Mentor Graphics Corp. - John Angulo*, Vladimir Dmitriev-Zdorov Micron Technology - Randy Wolff Sigrity - Sam Chitwood, Raymond Y. Chen, Tao Su, Brad Brim SiSoft - Walter Katz* Teraspeed Consulting Group - Bob Ross* ======================================================================== No patents were announced. The team reviewed the most recent draft of Touchstone 2.0 and made the following suggestions: - p. 7: remove "or blank" and remove "immediately" - p. 19, 20: correct PDF conversion of math equations; Radek suggested using the IEEE's PDF conversion service. Michael proposed that this draft be posted to the Open Forum for voting. No objections were raised. The draft will be posted as Draft C, in a new directory called "Touchstone 2.0 WIP". Michael asked the team about standardization through ANSI/TechAmerica and whether a parser should be developed. Bob suggested that a parser be created, but that standardization should wait until an updated minor release, as some editorial work may be required: 1) equation numbering may require changes for consistency 2) font sizes and equation editor format may require updating for consistency 3) if a 2.1 is introduced, references to 2.0 may need alteration John agreed, stating that "the field" could provide valuable testing of the rules there. Bob added that the team has to distinguish between making a syntax checker and a parser, as a parser would be used for creation of databases in other tools. Walter noted that SiSoft doesn't need either a syntax checker or a parser but does support Touchstone 2. Bob suggested the parser should not should not attempt to parse Touchstone 1.0 files. Michael asked whether Touchstone 1.0 checking could be informative only. Bob responded that implicit checking/parsing is tricky in 1.0; checking is easier in 2.0 due to the explicit nature of the keywords. He added that upgrade and downgrade of files is tricky between the versions. Radek suggested that 1.0 can still be used, so industry support should continue. The meeting will not continue on a weekly basis, but only as-needed for Touchstone and interconnect follow-up topics.------------------------------------------------------------------ The IBIS Ad Hoc Interconnect Task Group Mailing List Archives are available at: http://www.freelists.org/archives/ibis-interconn TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a message to "ibis-interconn-request@freelists.org" with a subject of "unsubscribe" To administer your subscription status from the web, visit: http://www.freelists.org/list/ibis-interconn
